Dr. Koustubh Pare hails from Harda, a small town in Madhya Pradesh. At the age of twelve, his father, though without formal musical training, placed an ancient harmonium before him and guided him through the first vocal exercises. That simple gift kindled a lifelong love for Indian classical music.
His formal training began at Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri College of Music in Puttaparthi, under Smt. Kumudini Mundkur of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana. After completing his studies, he taught at the same institution for several years, until a deeper calling led him to continue learning as a disciple of the late Pt. Mani Prasad of the Kirana Gharana, with melodic guidance also from Carnatic Vidwan Sriram Parthasarathy.
Today he is an accomplished freelance musician, composer, and lyricist. He teaches students online and offline, performs across India and abroad, and remains devoted to preserving and sharing the living tradition of Hindustani classical music, alongside a rich body of bhajans and devotional work.

In Harda, his father offered an ancient harmonium and the first lessons in voice, without formal training of his own, yet with a gift that opened a lifelong path.

Under Smt. Kumudini Mundkur of the renowned Bhendi Bazar Gharana, he built the foundations of his gayaki, tonal purity, structure, and reverence for tradition.

A distinguished exponent of the Bhendi Bazar Gharana, Smt. Kumudini Mundkur guided Dr. Pare through his formative Hindustani classical vocal training at Sri Sathya Sai Mirpuri College of Music, Puttaparthi.
She laid the foundation of his gayaki, discipline, tonal clarity, and a living connection to gharana aesthetics that still shapes his artistry.

A revered maestro of the Kirana Gharana, Pt. Mani Prasad accepted Dr. Pare as a disciple after he left his teaching post to seek deeper mastery of Hindustani classical vocal music.

For Dr. Pare, music and spirituality are inseparable. He regards Bhagawan Sri Sathya Sai Baba as his guide, guru, and God. The teachings he received opened the spiritual dimensions of sound, and of life itself.
Encouraged by Baba to sing bhajans and devotional songs regularly, he has offered his voice at Puttaparthi for over two decades. Those years nurtured musical excellence and an inner growth that listeners can feel in every phrase.
Bhagawan also granted him opportunities to present Hindustani classical music in the Mandir before international audiences. Dr. Pare attributes his inspiration, and even certain intricacies of music taught personally by Baba, to that boundless grace. Music remains his spiritual discipline: practice as prayer, performance as offering.
